I really want to get along with Things, but I cannot get past its the Today view's functionality, in that it does not inherit the order of your tasks as they are set out in your projects, there is no way to filter or sort the today view and even within your projects if you set a recurring task, it puts the new instance of the tasks in a totally random order vs as you have them laid out. It feels very counter productive to me to have such a powerful organisational tool that encourages you to use repetitive tasks and essentially live in the today view, only to completely blow it up when you need any kind of structure to your tasks. Any thoughts on this, workarounds, better apps etc? Almost everything else about Things is amazing, but the above feels incredibly flawed. I tried todoist but cannot get my head around, again, how views/today list is presented. I.e the today kanban board if you need to group by project it will omit your integrated calendar events, but if you group by label it includes all labels and not just the ones you have selected in the filter section. Very frustrating experiences from both apps.

The biggest disadvantage of things - is that it supports only apple devices. Used things for a while, but it is really big deal for me, I need windows or at least web app. Unfortunately they won`t do it so now I am looking for alternatives. Now trying to understang what better ticktick or todoist. For now I think I'll prefer todoist. But how it hurts to say "goodbye" to Anytime/Areas/Someday/When+Deadline on the same task... 11 month gone from publishing of this video, todoist still don't figure out nothing with it.

ALL I want from Reminders is the ability to hide the notes field. That's all. If they allowed that I'd be able to completely switch from Notion to just using apple apps. In Notion (and previously Things, and previously to Things, Todoist) I take notes, consistently regarding the projects and tasks I'm working on, or waiting for. Without them, I forget. And without being able to hide the notes field in Reminders it just makes it too messy and complicated to use. So sad. Such a simple thing to do, but I've been asking for years!!!!

Can you record with voice memo separately then insert the recording after? Will it be transcribed? Also can you take notes whiles its recording?

Do you have any thoughts on Amplenote? I'm intrigued by it because it combines note taking, task management, and calendar scheduling. It may have Notion's potential for combining these three, but without one having to design one's own task manager from the ground up. It also has a system of hierarchical tags, which looks like it may be similar to Bear's. Sadly, it doesn't seem to have separate Start and Due dates. I'm surprised that seems to be such a rare feature, when it seems like such a natural thing to do.

Peter, I take medicines daily, several times each day. What do you suggest to be the best way to keep track of them? Currently I use Things 3 to repeat them daily each time I have to take them.

Reminders is such an underrated app - many people go for a third party app when this can do it all in-house. Thanks for the tips - I didn't know I could attach files to reminders - gonna save me so much time!!!!

Because the reminders have no duration I will still use them as deadline and create an event in my "action" calendar for the duration/intended action time.

I’ve installed iPad OS 18 on to my iPad Pro 12.9 (2018) and while I can record a voice note within Notes, there’s no sign of transcription. I suspect this might be a feature for the M1 models. Anyone else been able to try?

⁠Quick question; do all tasks need to go to an area? What do you do to items that don’t go into an area?

Do you know if we can write notes while recording the voice in Notes? I do this today in Notability and I know that Good added it recently.

But you can't repeat 5 days a week for it not to make another copy of that to do if you don't complete it on one of those days. The copies will continue to be made until you physically delete them at the end of the day as not being completed. Omnifocus handles this much better.

Is the sections in "Scheduled" now collapsable as we can do with the "Today" view or lists with sections? Thank you for the great video!

Loved watching it! How did you do the emojis next to the events like flight and calendar?

I wonder if I'll be able to create a bunch of reminders using a checklist in apple notes, using a shortcut or apple intelligence/siri itself. Then, once completed, ask siri to check reminders that are done and mark the checklist inside the notes as done.

These features are making me consider leaving other apps behind for apple notes. And you're right, typography should get a revision

I guess I'll treat deadlines as events and tag them accordingly.
